New Meaning to the Term 'Road Construction'

I finished putting these Halloween cards together while my DH was driving us to his mom's house for the weekend. At times the road was bumpy and I kept thinking of the woman on that movie "Airplane" who was trying to put her makeup on while the plane was going down! I found the idea from splitcoaststampers.com. It was created by a fellow Long Islander (NY) named Michelle. She has a great video on her blog detailing the instructions. http://www.mypaperbliss.blogspot.com/ Check her out! She is very talented!

I made this card for my SIL. When I pick a card to make for someone, sometimes it is very easy to relate their personality to a card. I try to do that all the time, but this is among the easiest. To me this card is very clean and uncluttered. Just like my SIL! Deets:

I made this card for a friend's birthday. I'm happy about the way it turned out, but it is nothing like I imagined in my mind's eye. Funny how some things just morf into different ideas. My sister & BIL have an anniversary this month. I made this card for them. To make this card, I embossed the outline on one side of the vellum and colored the images on the other side. I don't care to heat emboss on Vellum. It never lays flat after it's heated. Other Deets:

My Mother-In-Law is having a birthday this month. No, I didn't mistakenly make 2 cards for the same person; I've been blessed with an MIL and a Step-MIL and they both celebrate their birthdays the same week! My MIL paints pictures and I think she painted a picture that is basically the same format as this card. I chose the colors as a pun for my faux oil painting. I used the canvas background stamp to make it look more like an oil painting on canvas. I made an oval template so that I could define the stippled area. I stamped the background trees on a scrap paper before I stamped it on the card to make it look like they are further away than the single fir tree. I embossed the whole thing because I know that after a painting dries for a few days, you put a protective coating on it. I hope she likes it!
Deets:
Stamps: Canvas Background, Lovely As A Tree, Birthday Greetings
Paper: NOT QUITE Navy, CLOSE TO Cocoa, Naturals Ivory

My Step-Mother-In-Law is having a birthday this month. I made this card for her. I started with the larger half-pearls, but I make 5 of the same card and I didn't have enough of those. I scrambled around and found the smaller half-pearls. I think I prefer the smaller ones anyway!

Lovely Lilac Purses

I love these purses! They are a bit of work, but they are so CUTE! I made 20 of them for a friend who's mother is going to have a birthday soon. I stuck a Hershey's Bliss Dark Chocolate candy in each if them. I even made the box out of cardstock and the lid out of a piece of plastic that I sized down. I'm learning how to recycle so many things! Anyway, I hope my friend's mom and her guests enjoy the purses!

HB Uncle Andy

This card is for my uncle’s birthday. He & his family moved out west when I was younger. I always thought about him when I saw a horse. I guess because his son used to ride. I don’t have any horse stamps, so I settled for the great outdoors.
Deets: I inked the tree stamp with Chocolate Chip and then colored the tips with Old Olive. I crimped the paper and rubbed it in the Chocolate Chip ink. Then I stippled the Old Olive around. I also stippled the sky with the Ballet Blue and rubbed the edges in the ink pad.

My niece works in the school system, so I was really excited to be able to make this card for her. I used White Craft Ink, which stays wet for a longer time and covers any color cardstock. While it was still tacky, I colored the flowers and stems. It makes the black cardstock look like a chalkboard IRL. I wonder if any of the school systems actually use chalk and chalkboards anymore... Hmmm. Deets:

A Card Only A Mother Can Love, Hopefully!

My Mom’s birthday is coming up and she loves swans. I bought this swan stamp off of EBay and had a hard time trying to figure out how to use it. After I stamped the trees and the swan, I stamped the swan again on a piece of plastic, lined it up and pressed it on the card for the reflection. I had to cover both the swan and the swan reflection and then stamped the trees on another piece of plastic and lined it up on the card as tree reflections. Then, I water colored the sky, land and water. I hope she likes the card.

Donations? Donations? Anyone?

Threw these boxes together at the last minute for a fundraiser for my church. I wanted to use flower vases, but my DH pointed out to me that if they fell off the counter, there would be glass all over the place. I put pillar candles in the bottom of the boxes so that they would be more stable. We bagged groceries at our local Winn Dixie for tips. All the proceeds went to the Adullam House which provides a place for children of prisoners to live. I was amazed (and proud!) of the generosity of our community. We had a wonderful time and the kids were richly blessed!

Father's Day

I LOVE the way these came out! They are made out of cardstock, but they look like leather! I had fun making them. I used my DH's wallet as a template. After cutting out the pieces and assembling the inside components, I rounded all the corners. Then, I used my paper piercer to create the illusion of stitching around the edges. It's not easily seen on the black wallets, but the Chocolate Chip wallets allow the black lines that I drew from each "stitch hole" to the next show up as if I sewed them. I pressed my VersaMark Ink Pad onto the outside panels. Then, added Embossing Powder and before I heat set it, I drew the lines. They don't feel like cardstock any more! I googled around and found a bunch of different coupons, mounted them on cardstock, add slipped them into the various sections. I hope to make purses soon. Never enough time in the day! I have three other projects in the air before I can get to them. TFL!

I did this for a challenge from my demonstrator. It's a lot like the last one, but instead of using a punch for the flowers, I used my Big Shot and sizzlits dies. I hope Cat like it! Something A Little Shady Going On

As I quietly sit, alone in my greatroom, my head bowed, my eyes shifting from side to side ... Oh! sorry! It took me over 2 hours to shade the petals of all the flowers and leaves for this project and the next one. I made 4 of these cards and 2 of the next one. I guess I just got a little crazy there for a minute. But the shading was well worth it. It adds so much more dimension to the petals and the pot. I sort of combined a few events in one. My sister had surgery and a very dear friend of mine went into the hospital. I know my sister is doing fine, but I'm still worried about my friend. He lives in another state and I have no idea about my friend. I can't send real flowers, so I'm sending the next best thing to cheer them up. Here are the deets:

I Read You Loud and Clear

This card was a little bit harder than the others. I had to connect 4 corner stamps in the middle of a card. I have the old Stamp Positioner from SU! and if you ever got stuck using it, you would know why SU! replaced it with their Stamp-a-ma-jig. But I digress... This Mother's Day card comes with a bookmark. I made some extra bookmarks to hand out in church. Here are the deets:

Best Wishes

One of Tony's co-workers is moving to another job. Tony asked me to pick up a gift certificate for him. When I got the certificate, I asked the restaurant manager if they had any envelopes for the certificate. They didn't so I decided to find something I could make to put it in. This Wallet is made of cardstock. It's a shame that you can't see the design on the outside. I took my ink pad and pressed it on the paper in different angles to make it look a little bit like leather. I punched a line of holes all the way around the outside and then drew a line from one hole to another. It looks like it was stitched!
